The Honorable Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar Aliyu has urged staff of the Ministry and power sector stakeholders to cooperate and work together as a team to ensure that steady electricity supply is delivered to Nigerians. He also declared his commitment to adding value to efforts made towards boosting electricity supply across the country.

Engr. Aliyu gave this charge during his first meeting with the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Power, Directors of the Ministry, and Heads of Agencies of the Federal Ministry of Power on Monday, 6th September 2021, at the Power House in Abuja. 

He appealed to employees under the Ministry to display a high level of honesty and dedication to duty, given the critical nature of the sector to the nation's development. According to him, “I want to urge everyone from the Permanent Secretary down the ladder to the cleaners to be dedicated and committed to duty. I know you have all done a lot, I am here to assist you".  

The Minister further explained that the power sector is very key and touches the lives of about 200 million Nigerians, therefore it is an enormous responsibility invested on all power sector workers and stakeholders to ensure a steady supply of power to the populace.

According to the Honorable Minister, he was deployed to the Ministry of Power to add value to the system and he is determined to ensure that the sector moves forward. The Minister charged all stakeholders to work together in honesty and commitment and warned against acts capable of causing loss of trust and confidence.  

In his goodwill message, the Honorable Minister of Water Resources Engr. Suleiman Adamu who accompanied the new Minister of Power, said that the Ministry of Water Resources would partner with the Ministry of Power to deliver electricity to Nigerians, adding that the Minister of Power is a professional and thus equal to the task and mandate that was given to him by the Presidency. He called on all the staff of the Ministry and agencies under the Ministry of Power to join hands with the new Minister to deliver quality electricity to Nigerians.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Mr. William Alo who received the new Minister expressed delight at the appointment of the Minister and assured him of the cooperation of all staff of the ministry and its agencies to make his tenure worthwhile and successful.

The meeting was attended by Directors, Heads of Agencies under the Federal Ministry of Power, and other stakeholders in the Power Sector.
